Coin Appraisal

We are constantly asked to appraise the value of coins, sometimes receiving dozens of requests per day. The information we are initially given is most often very sketchy and incomplete and difficult to work from. Usually, after several emails, many of the coins prove to be of little value. We have in the past tried to freely respond to your requests, but this has become a very time consuming affair.

To help us all, we offer the following references so that you can do some preliminary investigation:

	Canadian Coin News. Bi-weekly from Trajan Press - office@trajan.ca for copies or subscription. Available at most good newsstands.
	Coins of Canada by JA Haxby and RC Willey - Available in most book stores and libraries.
	The Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Coins - Available in most book stores and libraries.
	The Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Colonial Tokens - Available in most book stores and libraries.
	The Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Government Paper Money - Available in most book stores and libraries.

If you wish further information, or "don't have the time" to do it yourself, we can offer you a basic appraisal opinion at $5 per coin, or a detailed appraisal report at $150 per hour. Another option is to have your coins graded and certified by an independent service such as CCCS, ICCS, NGC or PCGS. See Coin Certification Services on the Canadian Grading page for more details.
